Mwenda

Mwenda, also known as Mamut, is a Nairobi-born, Berlin-based techno DJ who approaches music from a place of curiosity. He is fascinated by the primal relationship humans share with rhythm, music, and dance. Shaped by early exposure to soul, funk, jazz, hip hop, and electronic music, he played piano, drums, and guitar as a child. His groove-driven sound incorporates tribal, deep, driving, and dubby elements, with African rhythmic influences emerging subconsciously through repetition and call-and-response. Dark, raw, and physical, his sets focus on long-form movement and immersive dancefloor experiences—where the body understands the music before the mind does.
